ORIGINAL STORY: Ohio officer shot responding to call

According to the police Department of Toledo, office of Anthony Deer was shot in the chest while responding to a call in the intoxicated man. Witnesses say the man moved from the DIA to turn around and shoots him in the chest. Police in Toledo said that Dia was wearing a bulletproof vest during the shooting.

Dia was taken to a Toledo hospital, but he survived.

“I’ll never forget the sight of an officer of the dia drove me from the hospital on a gurney,” said the mayor of Toledo Wade Kapszukiewics. “His body wrapped in an American flag, surrounded by about 30 police officers of Toledo, saluting and crying.”

Officers searched the area and found the body of the alleged shooter. According to police, 57-year-old man died from a gunshot wound to the head.

After the shot, Toledo police said Dia to use the police radio to tell his family that he loves them. Dia is survived by his wife and two sons. He also has family in Dearborn.

Police Toledo shared a photo Dia and two boys took about 10 p.m. Friday, about two hours before he was shot. According to social media postDia had strong young men in his police car and turn on the light.
