Jersey City Council has postponed the meeting Wednesday through April 15 after death Councilor Michael Yun.
Yun, 65, died Monday due to complications related to COVID-19, a disease caused by coronavirus. Councilor D was hospitalized in the intensive care unit on March 24 with infectious diseases after going to the Jersey City Medical Center with fever and breathing difficulties.
“We are very saddened by the passing of Councilor Michael Yun. He is a family man, a great businessman, and a tireless advocate for Jersey City for nearly 3 decades of public service, “Mayor Steve Fulop said. “More than that, he is a great husband, father and grandfather because he has never missed an opportunity to share how proud he is with his family.
“This is very devastating for all of us here, because Michael is part of our Jersey City family.”
The council will meet virtually next week to introduce regulations to freeze rental increases in rent-controlled buildings.
