Catholic churches throughout Chicagoland can be reopened later this month. That Archdiocese of Chicago, and Rockford and Joliet dioceses, released an identical plan yesterday to resume mass, marriage, funeral and other services. Phase one will allow groups of no more than ten to attend baptism, reconciliation, marriage and funeral in the church soon after May 23. Phase 1-A will allow groups of no more than ten to attend private prayers starting May 30. Finally, Phase two allows for the reopening of weekday and weekend Masses for larger groups depending on state guidelines and church building capacity. Parishes need to receive readiness certification before entering Phase one.
