ALBANY, NY – The Capital Territory is the newest area in New York that can start reopening.
The gradual process will begin Wednesday.
Corina Cappabianca from NewsChannel 34 has the latest about it and what else the country is easing its restrictions.
Wednesday, 7 out of 10 regions will be in Phase 1 of the reopening process.
Now, all regions in the state have, or are expected to meet, the benchmark for contact tracers.
((Andrew Cuomo, Governor)) Albany / Capital Territory that has met many health metrics must run and track their trackers.
After the tracker training is finished today, the Capital Territory enters Phase 1 tomorrow joining the other Upstate.
Also announced today – there will be a pilot program of two-week hospital visits at 16 hospitals across the state.
This makes visitors return to the hospital with the right precautions, with the right equipment.
But it’s terrible to have someone in the hospital and then that person isolated because they can’t see their family, friends.
The governor also encouraged the sports team to restart without fans.
((Andrew Cuomo, Governor)) This is more an economic calculus for different sports, some sports franchises can make this job easier than others. It depends on the economy of the sport and how much is determined by selling seats in the arena or stadium etc.
New York also allows the Memorial Day with 10 people or less depending on local government decisions. And the Governor is “pushing” the vehicle parade.
