4-year-old boy shot dead on the west side of Detroit | Instant News


A 4-year-old boy was fatally shot Thursday morning on the west side of Detroit, police said.

At around 12:50 a.m., police said an unknown suspect opened fire on a house in the Birwood block in 18600 that hit the boy in his body.

The boy was taken to the local hospital by EMS where he was pronounced dead.

WDIV-TV (Channel 4) identifies the boy like Nathanial Messiah Roby-Townsend and told his live broadcast that the shooting took place at his grandmother’s house.

Nathanial’s cousin, Deangelo Rucker, told me WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) their family was gathered when someone shot into the house.

Police said the suspect might drive a white GMC minivan.

Investigation is ongoing.
