Waiting for your stimulus check? Here are some things that might help you get it faster | Instant News

HOUSTON – It has been more than two months since the government began sending stimulus checks to help Americans through the financial difficulties of the coronavirus pandemic. That money, up to $ 1,200 per person, is needed by those who are hardest hit by the pandemic. But there are people who meet the conditions still waiting for their stimulus money.

According to Channel 2 Consumer Investigator Bill Spencer, here are four things you can do that might help you get your stimulus money faster:

Register for a stimulus program

If you haven’t already, open it IRS payment portal and see if you qualify for payment. If you do, you can register.

If you don’t file a tax return in 2018 or 2019

You have to use IRS non-filer tool.

Make sure you use direct deposit

If you have a bank account, make sure you choose direct deposit for your payment. You are more likely to get your money faster than sending a check in the mail.

Contact your representative

In some cases, a call, email or letter to your Congress representative can make the wheel move faster. Below you will find a link to members of the Houston regional delegation.
